Now, I explain how to configure the router mikrotik using DHCP client. Before we setup the router mikrotik note the device in need below:
- Modem from ISP (I use First Media)
- Router Mikrotik
- LAN cable
- PC / Laptop
Network topology used :
Modem ISP → Router Mikrotik → PC/Laptop
Here's how to setup mikrotik :
- Open the Winbox
- Make sure the modem connected to router mikrotik on port1 and port2 connected to PC/Laptop
- Search IP or MAC Address → login with mikrotik id (if default, login : admin and without used password )
- Choose menu IP → DHCP Client → input IP in eth1 → make sure status IP DHCP client is bound
- Test with New Terminal whether IP DHCP modem → click New Terminal → input "DNS google : 8.8.8.8"
- Choose menu IP → Address → input IP for client in eth2 (i used IP 192.168.45.1)
- Choose menu IP → Firewall → NAT → click (+) → click Genneral choose out interface "eth1" → click Action choose "masquerade"
- Choose menu IP → DHCP Server → click DHCP Setup → DHCP Server interface choose "eth2" → click next until the process done
- After complated of the setup process. unplug the LAN cable connected to the laptop and plug in again
- Internet will run and try a test to google.com
